No audio on Youtube and other streaming sites

Hi. I'm having problems with the sounds on youtube. It shows the video just fine but there are no sounds coming out. This is actually my first time using Linux so I'm not familiar with it yet. So any help you can give me is highly appreciated.

Does other audio work? Can you play an MP3 file?

If not go into terminal and type alsamixer. unmute everything by pressing m and up arrow key.

If other audio does work have you tried a different browser?

Yes videos and sound files are working fine its just the sounds from streaming sites that are not. I've used Konqueror and Mozilla but both have the same problem.

Which version of Ubuntu are you using?
    Code:
    cat /etc/lsb-release
Post the output of this too :
    Code:
    cat /etc/firefox/firefoxrc
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
