    Swfdec

Hello, I am a fairly new Linux user using Ubuntu 9.04, and I am having a problem trying view Youtube and other sites that require swfdec to run. I have swfdec installed, but I am still unable view Youtube videos or other Flash functions. I assume this must be an issue with a firewall setting, but I do not know how to get into the firewall, or even, what the firewall program even looks like. Could some one tell me what to do?

First, make sure you don't have gnash or the adobe flash plugin installed, they will interfere with each other.

Second, in my experience swfdec doesn't work very well. If you want to keep it open source, try gnash, it's more actively developed, or if you aren't concerned about flash being proprietary, install adobe's flashplugin.
