How do I get to the BIOS to change the boot order?
I want my PC to boot from the CD Drive instead of the hard drive.
Can I change the boor order in UBUNTU?

You can only access the system BIOS during reboot/startup, there is no software for this. When you reboot your machine, you need to press a button to access the BIOS. Usually the DEL or F11 button will work.

On my dell and my home built xp, I have too tap the F2 key during the initial boot up. hope that helps.

Unless you are a very good programmer, it is impossible to access the BIOS settings once running the OS. Your best option would be to look at the POST (Power On Self Test)screen, which shows you for example: BIOS menu [F2], boot device [F12]. Quite often you see the bios menu being delete or F2.

You should see a brief message on boot (5 seconds or less) telling you which key to hit to enter setup. Dell is usually F2, HP and Compaq usually F10, sometimes the DEL key. The messages is usually shown at the bottom of the screen although sometimes at top right. You could try hitting the Pause/Break key when you first see the message to read it.
