    Network working intermittently

    Hi, I have an Ubuntu 8.04 install often the network will stop working for no apparent reason, and no devices are listed in the network settings dialog. This might go on for days. Tested the computer with a Puppy live CD and it works perfectly from there. What's going on?

    Is your system up to date (kernel patch-wise)?
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

    You can make sure it is by using the command:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

    I update regularly, this has been going on for a few months now. However I always get errors about some packages like samba and ubuntu-common and some others. I can't post them now because the Ubuntu box can't connect again.
