    Configuration Help

Hi. I know this POST may be somewhat different, but I'd like a shopping list of applications that will allow me to:

    1. On a dell machine loaded with Ubuntu 9.10 desktop and a USB connected
network printer and usb connected external storage.

    2. keep the same connection ID no mater how many times I need to reboot my
wireless router (so i'm guessing here I'd like my storage device and printer to
have network name no matter what the IP address is)

    3. Access the printer from a windows XP machine

I've tried searching but the information is fragmented and sometimes just too in depth for what i think I need to do.

    thanks in advance
    Ubuntu 11.04 on IBM ThinkCentre
Fedora, VMware Player (windows xp,Knoppix 6.5) on Lenovo Laptop
GRUB Fedora / Windows 7, VMware Player (Windows 2008 server) on NCIX quad core PC.

This should help with the connection bit. https://help.ubuntu.com/7.04/interne...-internet.html Ubuntu will only reconnect your card at login if it's recognized. Otherwise you'll have to do it manually.

As for sharing the printer, try a program called "Putty".
