Smile Just a few questions form a newbie

Hello, i have a few questions and would be grateful for any help.

I just put ubuntu 9.10 on a 4 gb flash drive and it boots and runs fine, i also have a 16gb sandisk micro and i am using it as a hardrive with the 4gb as a boot disk.
My questions were; Is there any way i can change all the settings for everything to use the 16gb as the hard driv and dont touch the 4gb unless updating the software or operating system that is contained by it.

Also there's something called the U3 launchpad installed on my 16gb sandisk micro and no matter how many time si delete it, it just keps coming back.

I formatted it a couple times but it did nothing.
i think its a CDROM partition

also does anyone know of a way to get windows xp on a flash driv elike i did the ubuntu. I googled and it was only for >2gb flash dives because of FAT and FAT16 compatibility.

any help would be appreciated thanks!

To uninstall the U3 software on your Cruzer
Bring the power of portable software to your USB flash drive - make it a U3 smart drive!

No clue on making a Pendrive Windows XP Persistence.

Howdy and Welcome to the forum and Good Luck.

The U3 launch platform runs on a separate partition on the drive, at least in my case. You should be able to remove this partition and resize the already accessible file system without loss of files, but just to be safe, do make a back-up. Resizing will give you back the space you've lost to the launching platform.

The easiest way is graphical using GParted. You can then just click it and select what you want to do with it. There is also an application called fdisk, but you'll have to look in the man pages to find out how to use that
    Code:
    man fdisk
Make sure you make back-ups before you do anything stupid.
