    Question HELP:Trouble connecting to internet(DSL)

    Ubuntu 9.10
    Network Manager(NM)

Guys I'm unable to connect to internet using Network Manager. The DSL connection I'm creating is not listed in the NM icon.I was able to connect in the previous version of Ubuntu though..Is there any alternative for NM for creating DSL connections. To use internet(successful) I did pppoeconf but I want to get rid of this and install an alternative for NM..

Can we create DSL connection using Wicd? But I've read on the wicd website that it does not support DSL connection while on some forums people have listed wicd does !

OR how can I fix my DSL connection using NM ?

    Merci

This sounds a lot like many of the problems I've seen regarding 9.10 not working with hardware that just worked out-of-the-box with 9.04. Personally, I would recommend sticking with 9.04 for now until 9.10's problems are redressed.

sudo pppoeconf, leave all defaults ...enter username and password and be sure to selct 'yes' to connect at system start up. This will work as long as your DSL modem is ON and CONNECTED before you start up your computer.....if you unplug your dsl modem or it looses connection, you will need to restrt your computer to re-gain internet connection (or sudo pppoeconf again)...do not attempt to connect with connection manager as this will disable your auto DSL connection. Wait a while and eventually update will take care of this nasty bug (yes, this is a REALLY disappointing bug for 9.10 stable release)
