I am using a 6 yr old Dell (given to me by my sister) that originally came with XP. I completely formatted the hard drive and installed Xubuntu. This computer is connected to my family's main TV. The computer has 5 or so connections to the sound card in rear. However, I have the sound coming from the front headphone connector to the TV since that gives me the best sounding output (I am only using the 2 TV speakers.).
I just want to have alsa load and work on boot up. I have removed it completely and re-installed it with no success. I have read in my searches that when more that one sound device is installed, sometimes the wrong device is loaded. I don't know if that is my problem, since a reload works every time.
