Barcode reader will not work properly in 9.10
Hi all,
I am looking for a work-around for the following problem.
I have a barcodereader that works under 8.04 but after upgrading
to 9.10 it will not work. It peeps once and then refuses to work.
I still have 8.04 on another partition and can reproduce this.
In the Forums I have read that 9.10 uses a blacklist for USB-devices
and this one a, Tenx Barcodereader is supposedly on it.
I cannot find any documentation about this blacklist and how to unlist
the device, 9.10 recognises it but it will not work properly.
I am gratefull for any suggestions.

Have you tried 9.04? I think that 9.10 has some issues, as you have found. For that reason I am not going to upgrade at this time - 9.04 has been working fabulously for me on 3 different laptops.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

barcodereader and 9.10
You are right of cause, but I had a 9.04 with KDE 3.5.
This is special kind of distro.
The people that are using this PC saw the upgrade icon,
clicked it to get the software-updates and then . . . . .
clicked the icon for dist-upgrade!
This broke the OS, I made it working via a boot in recovery mode
for each boot. So I decided to bring them to 9.10 Ubuntu and install
KDE 4 upon that. This is functioning pretty well, I accepted the extra
overhead having Gnome and KDE.
Luckily I own another barcodereader that is functioning so I can take time
to solve the problem, maybe return it to the shop and get another one.
It is very annoying however seeing something stops working that had no
problems in former versions.
Regards,

Yeah. That big "Upgrade" button on top of the updates form is very tempting to click. Caveate User!
