DVI Port Not Working On Computer
To make a long story short, I recently purchased a new 24" monitor and the DVI port isn't working.
I managed to get the VGA port working ok, but for some reason the DVI port doesn't want to work. I downloaded new drivers for my graphics card, and although it helped fix a few glitches in the system It didn't fix the DVI problem. I am currently running Ubuntu 9.10 and have a Samsung 2443bw monitor with a 1920:1200 aspect ratio.
Has anyone encountered this problem before, and if so, how can I fix it?
Thanks for the help!

I called Samsung to find out if the problem was with the monitor, and they told me that I had to activate the DVI port in Ubuntu in order to get it to work. Knowing this, do any of you know how to activate the DVI port in Ubuntu 9.10?

Do:
and see if there is a setting in there for it. Saving the file properly is a whole other matter if you are using karmic.Code:sudo nvidia-settings

I was able to get into that menu by going through the Administration menu, but there doesn't seem to be a setting for the DVI port. Would there be any other settings that would be effecting this problem?

Normally there is no need to activate a DVI connection, as it should be automatic. Did ubuntu 9.04 do this also? I would try the live cd of 9.04 just for the heck of it. That will tell you a lot.
To save you some time,
9.04 64bit Ubuntu
9.04 32bit Ubuntu

I have to say right away that I am very grateful for your help!
Now, I should mention that Ubuntu 9.10 is actually the first version of the Ubuntu that I have been able to run on my system. For some reason when I tried to install 9.04 when it came out, the resolution didn't allow me to select the type of aspect ratio that I needed, and I was too much of a newbie to figure it out so I just gave up and continued using Windows. Thankfully 9.10 seemed to fix this problem, and I have been on this version ever since. (I deleted Windows off my system and went cold turkey!)
I kind of figured that the DVI port didn't need to be configured, but for some reason it simply will not work.
If noone has any new suggestions that might help, would someone know of a support line that I could call so I can get some help with trouble shooting the problem? I went to the Ubuntu main page and noticed that I had to pay in order to get support, but I'm not willing to pay $55.
Keep in mind that if someone leaves me a phone number for support, I will be sure to report back when the problem has been resolved so others can benefit from information for future use.
