    [SOLVED] ttf-msfonts installer 3.0 error

    Ok, so I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 and when I did an error at the end of the upgrade said there was a problem and that the OS could be unstable. The only problem I have had is that synaptic came up with an error saying that

    ttf-msfont installer had an error and to use

    dpkg --configure -a
    to fix the problem with ttf-msfonts installer 3.0.

    Below is an example of the error that I get. Now when I did this synaptic still did not work. So I went and got the ttf-msfonts installer 3.0 myself and tried installing it. Then I used dpkg --configure -a and it worked then after about two days I got the same error last night so I ran the command dpkg --configure -a
    and it worked again. Does anyone know why I am getting this error and how to fix it on a more permanent basis. How come it works for a few days and then gives me that error again? Also, I noticed since I upgraded that Mozilla is waaayy Slooow..... is there a fix for that?

    Yeah, a clean install. Upgrading leads to too many problems. Wish I could be of more help.

    I searched synaptic on my system and found no reference
    to ttf-msfonts. It has msttcorefonts

    I did the clean install and it got rid of the ttf-msfonts error but the internet is still slow. It was fast when I had 9.04 but now I have a fast connection to google but after I click on a link I have to wait anywhere from 40 sec to about two minutes to getr a website to come up.

    Try disabling ipv6 in Firefox.

    I did that and it would not get on the net so I googled and found instructions on how to edit a few files:

    /etc/default/grub and change

    also

    /etc/ssh-config or ~/.ssh/

    Then I turned ipv6 off in mozilla and badda boom fast internet again!!

    I admit I was about to scrap 9.10 now it works great!! Linux gets me right on the edge everytime and then poof it works great!!
