    mirroring two identical disks

i'm running kubuntu 9.10. from a 1.5T samsung disk. i just popped a second disk (identical to the first) into the machine, and hoped for a friendly pop-up wizard telling me how to mirror the first disk onto the second, or how to set up raid or something.

my intention is to have the contents of the two disks be identical, so that when one of them fails, i can simply keep going on the second. i'm sick and tired of setting up configurations whenever i have to restore from backup because my disk failed.

i tried to read up on raid, but for some reason it seems that can only be done during installation of the os. what's the best solution? rsync? rdiff-backup? software raid? something simpler?

setting up a raid requires destroying all data on the disks, so you need to do it during an installation (unless you are using a server that allows for hotswap)
