    [SOLVED] Ubuntu 9.10 via Win7RC1

FIRST OFF I want to say I have NEVER touched Linux before. I went to the linuxnewbie site and it wasn't all that helpful with my current problem, but I'm sure it will be helpful down the road. First things first:

I recently installed Linux Ubuntu 9.10 via windows 7 RC1...

...I downloaded it, installed it, got my account name setup, got a chance to peek around at the layout of the OS a bit, then updated everything and then when it restarted my computer and I tried to boot up the Ubuntu "partition" it goes to GRUB. I just want to mention the Ubuntu website didn't indicate ANYTHING about GRUB but did however go on and on about how easy of an OS it is[anger]...ANYWHO, I clicked TAB to get the various codes or whatever and I typed:

    Code:
    grub> boot
See how good of a programmer i am?

I later went around google and various places and now get the jist of what I need to do, although my question is: How do I load a boot kernel for an IDE Hard drive? and what is that code? and do I have to do this every time?

    Thanks!!

I really want to give this OS a shot.

In case my computer specifications are important:

    AMD Sempron 140 (AM3)
    ECS 8200A(1.0)
    Crucial 1gb DDR2-667
    Nvidia 8200 chipset
    Western Digital IDE hard drive
    IDE DVD-RW
