Mouse Stops Working
I am new to Linux. I am running Linux Mint 7 x64.
While I am on the computer, my mouse will suddenly freeze up. Sometimes it happens after a few seconds or few minutes. Others, an hour or so... everything else works fine. I have to use the keyboard to reboot so it will work again. I've tried different ports, and it happens with two different mice. The first was a Microsoft Wireless laptop mouse. The second is a brand new USB Dell Optical.
Other than this nuisance, I love Linux!

The fact that it disappears at some time says there is some key element/s in the handshake getting overwritten or lost. Try to remember or repeat the actions to see what you were doing just before the disappearances. This wil give some idea of what happens inside.
Do uninstall = re-install of the mouse driver software if there are drivers. Or it could be as simple as pressing the connection buttons on the USB receiver and the mouse to remake the connection.
Keep going, there's better life after Windows!!
