Tell us more about how you installed the fonts, and post your sources.list file so that we can have a look at it. Are you getting any error messages?

Also, are you sure you really want/need the mscorefonts? They mess up my system every time I've ever installed them so I stopped doing so several years ago and I now like the Linux fonts way more than Microsoft's fonts.

Either way, please provide more info if you can so that someone might be able to lend some help.

    Sry Ive been busy
I finally deleted mscorefonts problem solved.
I have both a 64bit laptop, and 32 bit dinosaur, both couldn't run mscorefonts.
I even tried a script someone wrote to fix it. (so I'm not the only one with this problem) It screwed up my system to the point my keyboard was typing wrong letters. Had to do a complete re-install of Ubuntu to fix it. I'm thinking either they need to fix it or get it out of synaptic. Anyway you said something about Linux fonts, is that something I need to add from synaptic and how do i do that whats it called.
    Tnx

Is the script you tried from this guide?
Howto: Fix ttf-mscorefonts-installer problems in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala Friendly Tech Ninja

I don't like accusing anyone of anything, especially when 9 times out of 10 its my fault.
After trying every fix out there, I did try that one, and it started from there.

I've looked at the script. All it does is download, extract, and copy the ms fonts to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/mscorefonts/. Doesn't seem like it should have screwed up the keyboard settings. It's odd.

Anyway, you can find many different fonts in the Ubuntu repos. Not sure what they install by default, but a couple of the most popular and common are ttf-dejavu and ttf-liberation.

Sorry, mine may be a crude method, but all i do is copy the ttf files of MS fonts and paste them under TTF (ttf) directory and then run fc-cache. Works for me. No trouble till this time. Never used linux packages for mscorefonts.

Instead of installing MS Fonts, I would suggest you to try this config file. Its really works great.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
