Exclamation How to recover windows xp in grub 0.97 ubuntu 9.10

Hi there, I have a few years using Ubuntu, sincerely I'm not very good in using the terminal but since the newest versions of Ubuntu are simplest to use I hadn't had any real need to use it. Here's my problem: I got the new Ubuntu 9.10 in an old Compaq Presario M2000 whit windows xp (I have 3 partitions first: windows xp fat32, second: my info fat32, and third Ubuntu 9.10). Everything was great until an upgrade at the update manager change my grub to beta 2.0 something like that, and after that I reboot my computer because the update manager requested it but what was my surprise, when turning on the computer and showing up the grub menu, windows disappeared I already downgraded the grub 2.0 to the .97 again but I still have the same problem. If any one could help me please on how to recover windows at grub menu that'll be great I'm kind of newbie in complicated terminal orders ha-ha thanks in advanced for your time.

PS: Any info needed to help please request me.

    Welcome to the forums!

Sorry, but due to the formatting tags that you've used in your post, I'm having a hard time reading it. Based on the thread title alone, you might be able to utilize the SuperGRUB LiveCD, or your Ubuntu installation disk to restore GRUB if that's what you are wanting to do:

It's very hard to read anything on your image with partition info but it looks like your windows partition is either sda1 or sda2. If you have Grub0.97 and a menu.lst your windows entry should be either:

    rootnoverify (hd0,0
    chainloader +1

    or

    rootnoverify (hd0,1)
    chainloader +1
