Hi all..I have a Q Running Ubuntu 9.04 64bit have 8G ram do i need swap space. I have screenlets installed showing me ram and swap ram never went over 1.7g and swap never been touched.. Do i need it there.

It's an old debate, but personally I don't use swap at all. I turned it off a year or so back and in later installs I didn't even bother creating a swap partition.

If it's a laptop and you want to use hibernation, ie, suspend to disk, you need enough swap to hold the contents of your RAM.

Thankz all..Its not a laptop and i never put it to sleep. So i will get rid of swap see how i go. With 8g it should run fine...
