    Wont recognize usb stick

    i got an ibm 8173-kub and i just installed simply mepis 8.0 and when i plug in usb stick before i turn on computer then it will recognize it but when the computer is on and i plug in a usb stick it wont show up on my desktop. ny ideas?

    Plug-in stick and execute this in Terminal :
    Code:
    tail -s 3 -f /var/log/messages
    Does it recognize stick and assign any drive letter to it? Post output here.

    i have 10 of these machines and they all have the same problem i tried few different usb stick and i know the usb sticks work

    May be a 'hotplugging' issue? Did you try with any other another distro?

    well i have a compaq machine which as the same distro on it and no issue with this problem. so must be related to the chipset the ibm are using. thats my guess. On a side note i realy want to go with SimplyMepis on this cause I feels more XP like which more users are used to and are more willing to to try it.
