    ubuntu connection problem while installing packages and while updating

    Im using Ubuntu Jaunty Jackelope.. whenever i try to update ubuntu or install new packages, i get the connection problem.. however im using internet at 2Mbps speed and its working good with browsers.,,

    pls help me.. i need to install new packages reg my work..

    it problem is like this

    Whenever i click update in update manager i get a error message as "COULD NOT DOWNLOAD RELEASE NOTES , PLEASE CHECK THE INTERNET CONNECTION"

    when i check for new updates, i get this error

    Could not connect to 218.248.255.145:8080 (218.248.255.145). - connect (111 Connection refused)

    Generate new sources.list file and replace it with existing /etc/apt/sources.list.

    That's a handy website. I hadn't run across it before.

    I believe it should be /etc/apt/sources.list
