    help with grub loader

    Hey guys,

I'm currently using karmic and I recently formatted a partition on my hard drive as ext4 for which I plan to install the newest openSUSE linux os. It was previously Windows XP. How do I remove the entry for Windows XP in the loader and install openSUSE from my usb drive on the ext4 partition?

    Thanks,
    Milo

    Hi and Welcome !

There is no need to remove Windows OS entry. OpenSuSe installer will install OpenSuSe's GRUB over Ubuntu's GRUB and it will remove Windows entry.
Installer will detect Ubuntu OS and setup dual boot itself.
    Just start OpenSuSe installation.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I've never installed from USB but I would assume the same as CD. Download and burn the image as an image file at a low speed, do the md5checksum to verify a good download first. Set your BIOS boot priority to boot first from the USB drive. If you have only one formatted ext4 partition, it shouldn 't be hard to find the correct partition.
