    Mounting blank CD error.

I got an ISO from a friend and it's been sitting ontop of my desktop for ages now, and I'm not able to burn it because for some reason, Ubuntu has stopped reading any CDs in my drive.

    Help, please?

I assume you've tried different discs.

That suggests to me the image (iso) is no good. Have you been able to burn CD's of any content (like a different iso) lately?
    Errno: 5 (Input/output error)
...and that suggests your disc or your burner might be no good.

Is there any way you can borrow an external burner just to test if it's the configuration? If another burner works where this one fails, then you can assume this one has died (it happens).

Possibly but I somehow got the CD to load in my driver but now, Brasero says the ISO is too large (544 or so MB on a 700 MB CD) and G.B. won't burn it. I've tried K3B but that's proving difficult.

k3B is a KDE program, you're apt to have trouble with in in Gnome (though I hear some people do make it work). If you want to try a different app, you might have better luck with Graveman.

I still think the hardware is klunky, whether it be the drive or the "blank" CD (that last error sounds like the drive now thinks the CD is a half burned multi-session or a mini-disc). I have no way of knowing though not being there.

I'll try it, thanks. EDIT -- Can't find the package.

And after I rebooted the comp., the blank CD won't show or anything again...

Hehe, oops, you're right, graveman isn't in the Ubuntu repository.

    Ummm, gnomebaker?

Iknorite? Maybe it'll show itself again, soon...
