linux disk will not boot up
I cannot get newer versions of linux to boot up on pc....i can get ubuntu 8 or kunbutu 9.4 to work but when i try kubuntu 9.10 or fedora 12 they won't boot and the disks are good , they work on another pc.

Sometimes, a distribution will fail to boot because of various hardware compatibility issues. If you haven't done so already, you can try using some of the kernel boot options available to you for getting past this boot problem:

I think Fedora offers some kernel boot options as well. Hope it works for you.oz

Could you post your machine's specs here? Which Graphics Card do you have?
Do installers throw any error message?It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

I don't mean to sound rude or condescending, but have you ensured that you actually wrote the contents of the ISO to your disk rather than just burning a copy of the ISO file itself?
The fist time I messed with burning an ISO, I made this mistake.
