    CD drives have disapeared

    Ok so today i installed virtualbox so i can run some windows applications that don't work on linux.
    some how my Cd drives have disappeared
    i cannot find them and they don't read my cds in the drives either
    I don't know what to do

    Which version did you install, the open source version, or the proprietary one? In any case, in the CD/DVD-ROM configuration page for your VM you will see a check box for "Mount CD/DVD Drive", and below that a couple of radio buttons - one for "Host CD/DVD Drive. With that, there is another check box for "Enable Passthrough". If you have enabled "Host CD/DVD Drive" and checked "Enable Passthrough", then the VM has direct control of the drive, so the Linux OS might not be able to see/control it. I use VirtualBox all the time, with both CentOS / RHEL 5.x and Ubuntu 9.04 and have no problems with the CD/DVD drives on either OS.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
