    SiS in Ubuntu

I have a problem with the video card driver on my computer. I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and my chipset is SiS761GX. The problem is a that there are 2 fuzzie lines on the right and left side. My settings are 1024x768 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. I have used the VESA driver in other distros like Puppy 4.2 and that worked great. How do I install VESA in Ubuntu 9.04? Or is there a better way to fix my problem?

    Hi and Welcome !

I have SiS card in one of my machine too. "vesa" driver is pre-installed in almost all Linux distros. "vesa" doesn't support SiS card in Ubuntu 9.04.
Either upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10 because "vesa" driver work fine in it or use native "sis" driver.

If you don't want to upgrade to 9.10, post the contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf file here.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
