    firefox level problem

    Ubuntu 8.10
At some point, I upgraded Firefox rel 3.0.16 to Firefox 3.6b. Sometimes and only sometimes 3.6b loads on boot. When this level loads there are no bookmarks. I try to load my saved bookmarks and that does not work, but after attempting it, I restart firefox and the previous level (3.0.16) loads. My bookmarks are back but the release level is not the updated one.
Does this suggest I have both levels installed? Doing a locate/find/search reveals no files prefixed with 3.6b.

    I have Karmic.

I have FF 3.5.6. How did you manage to get 3.6b? Please post the link.

In Synaptic, I can see that Firefox 3.5.6 is installed (green icon).

I also see that I have 3.0 and 3.1. These are not marked as installed. What do you see?

Maybe you should uninstall everything connected with Firefox, then start again

BTW: Your FF bookmarks are in ~/.Mozilla/Firefox

I don't think FF modifies that folder during upgrades.
