Question worries about compatability on new laptop

hi, i have some questions relating to a laptop I'm about to get in the mail. its an itronix gobook 3 - ix260+ [version that doesn't have the built in gps module]. i really really would prefer to have this run on Ubuntu linux rather than windows xp, but im concerned about the touchscreen feature, ive read articles from ubuntu forums and as far as itronix gobook (3) is concerned, i haven't seen anyones problem get fixed, so im coming at this from another angle.

has anyone had good experiences with the touchscreen feature of a gobook 3 - ix260+ when installing a newer version of Ubuntu Linux? [anything at or past 7.10 would be newer]. or any other experiences installing Ubuntu/Ubuntu-like operating systems on a gobook 3 - ix260+

btw the gps,blue-tooth and wan feature doesn't matter much to me, just the touchscreen cuz i like to draw/animate

    thnx much in advance

If it has a CD/DVD drive or can boot from USB then you can boot from either a liveCD/DVD or liveUSB drive and test this out before you wipe XP from the system. I've heard good things about Ubuntu working with most touch screen displays, but since I don't have one myself, I don't have any experience with them.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
