[SOLVED] Adobe Flashh player won't work
Hi.
I have been trying to get Adobe flash player to work for some time now.
I have gotten it to work in Kubuntu, Xubuntu and OZOS but nogo for Ubuntu.
some have said that should look in the repository only to find out that the repository would correctly be named the software center and that it has no files named flash or adobe. I installed flash from adobe directly but it did not work. I am using 32bit Ubuntu.
Thanks.

I usually install Flash from the repository for my distribution, but when that fails for any reason, I download the file from the Adobe site, extract it, then drop the plugin file itself into the .mozilla/plugins folder in my home directory, then restart the web browser.
Doing this has always worked for me.oz

The easy method would be to extract it using whatever archive tool you have installed on your system. Once you've done that, you should be able to navigate to the newly extracted folder with your file manager and then copy or move the plugin file to the plugins folder as indicated earlier. You could also do these tasks from the command line, but that would be quite a bit more work unless you are familiar with, and comfortable using the command line.

Flash installer
I have not installed an archive tool on my computer. I thought Linux had this capability within?
I'm not understanding this very well.

There are instructions on the Adobe page for Linux installs, you didn't indicate which you downloaded:
Adobe - Flash Player 10: Installation instructions
about half way down the page.

Just open a terminal and type
Code:sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

I was able to get it working by installing "Ubuntu restricted areas download".
Thanks.Last edited by mocatz187; 01-07-2010 at 03:54 AM. Reason: checked for sound and..
