    Hi and Welcome !

Download Ubuntu .iso image from here. Burn .iso image to CD and boot up from it. There will be an Install Icon on Desktop. Click on it to install Ubuntu.

Do not create bootable CD. .iso images are Bootable by default. Select Burn Image to Disc option in your CD/DVD burner package.

    Welcome to the forums!

I'm not sure why anyone would tell you that you need to download Ubuntu to get a word processor, but perhaps there is more to that.

Anyway, we have a nice HowTo that you can follow to make sure you properly download the ubuntu ISO file and burn it to disk as an image:

Hope you have fun running Linux.

The Acer Aspire Revo is smaller than a netbook, actually about the size of a hard drive ( Dimensions: 7.1" W x 7.1" D x 1.2" H.) and according to this site is "intended for those who like to surf the Internet, use entertainment programs and stay connected with instant messaging programs".

Couldn't find much referring to Linux except for Ubuntu XBMC??

The Revo 3600 is running a version Linpus, this model does not seem to have a built in optical drive, if you do not have a external cdrom/dvd drive you will need to install ubuntu using a liveusb. Here is a how to make a liveusb
As ozar pointed out you could just install a word processor like Abi Word or Open Office, or if you do not want to install anything. There are online options like Google docs. What ever you decide have fun!

Like others said before me , i would just install a word processor like open office. open office is a suite of office programs alot like microsoft office, its just the linux version(they make it for Windows to i believe). Doing that will be 10x easear than doing a reinstal of your opperating system.
