Hi, I am trying to use xfire with wine. I downloaded the xfire installer and i already have wine installed, and i right clicked the xfire installer and opened it with wine, i followed all the steps to install, and when i finished and tried to open xfire, nothing happened. Any ideas on how to fix?

Right click and property the shortcut you use does it start something like:

    env WINEPREFIX="/home/USERNAME/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\..."

That's what all my wine installed games look like if I drag them to the desktop. I also found I needed to check my wine configuration and tweak it at first though I can't remember what exactly. Just make a note of what you changed so you can change it back if it goes wrong.

I have found that setting WINE to be an older version of windows XP/ME/98se is most effective on problem games. Just be sure to not drop your version back further than the earliest supported by the program you want wine toi run for you.
