    Nvidia GeForce GTX 280

A friend of mine has been using ATI 4870X2 on his computer and now he is looking to replace this card with Nvidia GeForce GTX 280. According to my friend ATI 4870X2 has a little bit heating problem, which driving him nuts. Wondering Does anyone have experience with the GTX 280 card on Ubuntu?

    Any input will be helpful.

nvidia has had a good track record historically, and that card is listed as supported by current nonbeta driver, so i would imagine it is fine

My GTX 260 works perfectly with LInux and it uses the same driver as the GTX 280 so there shouldn't be any problems with it.

There are a number of manufacturers of nVidia GTX 280 cards - BFG, EVGA, and Zotac from the nVidia web site. Each may have differing power requirements, hence heat dissipation factors. I have an 8800GT card myself since I don't do serious gaming, and have never had any heat/power problems with that.
