another noob wit another noob question...
i have jsut recently gotten into linux, and to say the least, i am definately impressed. so far everything is easy to learn, and very customizable. on to my problem... on my desktop, i have a "side menu" i dont have any other way to put it. it has everything on my top menu bar, but on the side, very much in the way, very big, and very annoying. if you notice on the picture i attached, you will see it on the right hand side. does anyone know how to get rid of this? thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

Have you tried dragging it to where you want it, or right-clicking it for an option to move it?oz

That's Ubuntu Netbook Remix, NOT Desktop.
I'm not sure you can drag the bar around in UNR
THIS <----Clicky
Is the Desktop version

Have a look in your system preferences and see if there is a desktop switcher. If not you should install it using either Synaptic or apt-get on the command line

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
