Ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala wireless issues. please help!
I just installed ubuntu 9.10 on my hp pavilion dv2110rs and everything worked fine but the wireless card. i cant figure out what is wrong. when i type lspci into the terminal it tells me "01:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01)" and i have no idea where to go from here to install a working driver. Please help me i tryed to go by the ubuntu guide but i got complettly lost.

It should be very straight forward. Open the terminal (command line application) from the "Applications" menu and in that window type the following:
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
This will download and install the driver and firmware for your wireless. Obviously you will need to be connected via a cable when you do this. Reboot once the driver has finished installing.
If it worked, you should be able to select your wireless network from the system tray icon in the top of the screen. You might also get a popup saying "wireless networks available".

It's normal. Nothing shows up on the screen as a security measure, similar to how passwords are often echoed on the screen with *****. Just type your password and hit enter.
