What is your wireless card? Possibly you need to install firmware.

    Hi Reitsima -

Having exactly the same problem. Dual boot w/ win 7, with integrated wireless hardware ubuntu won't see wlan0, and when I plug in an usb belkin n-wireless stick, the systems sees this as a wlan, but simply will not accept the password. It just prompts me over and over again to authenticate, to no avail....let me know if you figure it out!
