    All linuxes fails to install

First of all, i'm from lithuania and my english is poor, so sorry.

My pc: mobo: p4i65g, video card: hd3650 agp8x, cpu: pentium4 3Ghz, 2GB ram, samsung 250gb hdd + seagate 320GB hdd, 2x dvd - rw drives, first is a new one, second old one.

So, i have a problem, can't install any linux.

Ubuntu, Kubuntu: booting from bios with bootable ubuntu or kubuntu cd goes fine, then i'm choosing language, after that install, later after +- 3min install hangs. Hangs when screen is black with pointer. Mouse is okay, i can move and pointer is moving in monitor, i'm tried maybe 10 times to install and it hangs on the same black screen with pointer. ( waiter around 20 min, nothing happens, pc unactive).

Suse linux: Nearly the same, choosing what i want, when the linux begins to install it hangs on Preparing discs at 1 or 2 %.

Edit: Srr forgot to mention, that i tried linux mint 8 too... same story ...

In every situation when it hangs i cant even eject a cd/dvd from dvd drive...

I'm really want to transfer from ms windows, office, to linux + open office, becouse i'm sick of windows stability.

    Yes i checked my ram.
Yes i tried to install disc in diffrent speeds, even tried old dvd drive, but the same situation.
My hdds checked for errors, rams too. I don't know what's the problem...

    Please help.

Have you tried using the alternate Ubuntu install CDs?
Complete Download Options List | Ubuntu

Some members have to use alternate install cds when having trouble with regular ubuntu install cds. Give it a try and post back if you have problems still.

Howdy and Welcome. Good luck with it.

sounds like a video driver issue. Try booting up in failsafe or recovery mode. If given a choice to use vesa driver. Use it for now. You need to mention which Ubuntu Version you installed also.

As you can see. This is not a uncommon problem. Read over the search I found for you and see what will work for you. Good Luck with it.

Do you have both a video card on the motherboard as well as the hd3650 external card? If so, then I expect that the OS is trying to install for the motherboard video. Try connecting your monitor to that one to see. If so, then you can configure X to use the other card after you finish installing.

Ctrl-Alt-F1 will give you a character-based console. If that displays on you monitor, then login as root and cd /etc/X11. Post the contents of xorg.conf here if you can. We should be able to help you get this sorted out.

Rubberman is dead on telling you to run moniter off of motherboard vga connection. You could install driver for pci card later.

    cd /etc/X11
like he said is also a good way to go also.
