    clicking sounds from speakers

    My computer is making clicking sounds that apparently come from the speakers. When I turn down the volume they get softer and then go away. They have no pattern that I have been able to recognize. There will be one or two, then quiet, then seven or eight in quick succession, etc.

    Anybody have any ideas?

    I run Hardy Heron on a 4 year old Dell Inspiron B120 laptop.

    Do you have a cell-phone nearby? I first started noticing popping in my speakers when co-workers would walk by with iPhones. I've recently heard it with my droid phone too.
