    Ubuntu 9.10 Internet problems

Hello again all. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 on a desktop as a dual boot along with Win XP Pro X64 bit. I have a Realtek RTL 8139/810x Ethernet. When I use the lspci in the terminal, it lists the realtek 8139/810 c, and a few others but not the "X". Could this be the reason??? Please HELP!!!

It might be a problem. Have you gone to the Realtek or Ubuntu web site to see what they say about support for this device?

Well, you have an ethernet port w/ IPV6 address, but not an IPV4 one. Your network isn't configured properly. Since this is a desktop, assign it a static IPV4 address for your LAN and make sure the network configuration is setup properly w/ gateway address, netmask, DNS server address(es), etc. If you didn't enable IPV4 when you installed the OS, then you will need to do that first.

Well, I put in all the info it needed, I think I got the right info, and still it wont connect. I think i just might try buying a new ethernet card and see if that helps. Thanks for trying. steve509
