Exclamation pipslite-wrapper, badly needed? It's most elusive.

Trying to get Ubuntu to print to my Epson STYLUS SX515W, without much success. All OK with Windows but not with Linux.

    Pipslite-wrapper appears to be missing.
I have Googled but with no success.
Any help welcomed. I am new to Linux.
I really want to be rid of Windows.

I'm with Ubuntu 9.10 trying to install the Epson Stylus SX215. When I tried to install the .pdd file it kept asking for a pipslite-wrapper, but the file is not actually called 'pipslite-wrapper'. Anyway, I got my printer to work by doing this...

    1. I went to the 'avasys' website (google it)
    2. I downloaded this: Epson-Stylus_SX215-pipslite-en.ppd *
    3. Then I downloaded and installed this: pipslite_1.4.0-5_i386.deb
... choosing the option to install it rather than save it.
    4. I plugged the printer into the usb port and turned it on.
    5. Then I went to System - Administration - Printing configuration - clicked New
    6. Selected Epson option. My system thinks the printer is a SX210 -
but I don't mind that, because I can change the description to SX215.
    7. I selected the option to 'provide a PDD', browsed directory containing the file
    Epson-Stylus_SX215-pipslite-en.ppd ... and printed a test page.
    8. So far it seems to work.
    9. * I THINK that you will need the file: Epson-Stylus_NX515-pipslite-en.ppd
    and the file: pipslite_1.4.0-5_i386.deb
    10. I'm still getting to know Ubuntu myself, so use the above at your own risk!

    Hope this helps Frank!

I've just been having a nose around other forums and one poster gives the opinion that Avasys drivers can mess-up the printing system in Ubuntu. Allegedly.
Now I just have to get the scanner working...
