    Emulators Not Working

The problem I have is that I am not able to get ANY of my Emulators to work in Ubuntu.

I have been trying for months now, but there isn't a single reliable emulator that works on Ubuntu.

There always seems to be problems with lagging, and sound issues that never seem to get resolved.

This is beyond frustrating because Gaming is the one thing i need to have on my computer, yet it is the only thing I'm not able to get working.

Do any of you know of any alternative suggestions to fix this problem?

I have tried EVERY available emulator for both Windows (Used on Wine) and Ubuntu.

Is there some kind of general setting for Wine that I am overlooking?

Here are a list of Consoles I want to play:

    - Super Nintendo
    - Nintendo
    - Sega Genesis
    - Sega Master System
    - Nintendo 64
    - Playstation
    - Gameboy Advanced and Original

    Someone please help me!

Also, if anyone knows of a reliable M.E.S.S. emulator for windows in .deb format I would appreciate it.

I don't usually have much luck with M.E.S.S. emulators since you usually need a PHD to get the thing working, but I thought I would give it a try.

I would say that if you REALLY need to run windows applications, and can't live without them, then running windows instead of Linux is the best choice.

I have one CAD application that is installed on a windows box. I paid $1200 for it, and want to keep it available. I also run a windows GIS map reading program on my netbook. For that I installed WinXP as a virtual system, using Virtualbox. I don't use the Open-Source-Edition (OSE) that is available from the Ubuntu repositories, but downloaded the full (non open-source) .deb package version from the Virtualbox web site.

Your game may still not work in the virtual windows, but you can give it a try.

Thanks for the reply, I have tried to use Virtual box at one point, but the only problem is that we would like the Internet access to be disabled on Virtual Box, (Due to content restrictions) but couldn't find a way to do it permanently.

Virtualbox also had problems picking up the USB drives and any outside sources like a DVD.

Would you know of any solutions to these problems?

What do you need USB and DVD drives for if you are only playing video games? Playing games doesn't need internet access, does it? You can disable the network connection if you are paranoid. Anyone with half a brain could reenable it, though.

This is why I want the Internet to be disabled permanently, that way noone with half a brain can enable it.

My games are in fact on my USB drive, therefore I need someway to access them on Virtualbox.

Just disable it in the configuration. I don't believe it is working by default, but I may be wrong.

The OSE edition of Virtualbox doesn't have USB support. That is why I said to not use it.

You really need to carefully read the help replies that people give you. Repeating oneself gets old VERY fast.

Hmm ... I actually downloaded that one before, and it didn't have USB support ...

I don't usually use the programs that are found in the software centre ...
