Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Could you explain your problem a bit more?

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10. My problem is that I get no sound at all. My onboard sound card is the realtek AC'97 but when I type in the sudo lspci it shows a different one. When I first installed Ubuntu 9.10 i did get sound for a moment but now nothing at all.

    Is system sound working?
Execute alsamixer command and try to change volume settings.

PS. System sound is not working. I have a dual boot along with Win XP x64 bit and the sound works just fine. Maybe i need to get a sound card that supports Linux?

    SOLVED sound problem...

I right clicked on the speaker icon & went to Sound preferences, clicked on the hardware tab and at the bottom under profile I chose different settings until I got sound. I had to try different settings because some of them, although they worked, sounded terrible. I found one thay seems to work great...Thanks for all the help.
