    Scrolling...whats normal?

When I scroll down the page using the touchpad on my laptop (Compaq Presario M2000) on some web pages theres a slight judder. Is this a scrolling issue or is it a graphics refresh i.e. driver issue. i'm having a hard time deciding whats normal i.e what acceptable? like am i being to perfectionist here? on the other hand I like to be sure I have tings set up to the best that this hardware can offer. I guess most sites its acceptable (but what should I strive for?) just a couple in particular that have lots of pics and judder quite a bit with some big black chunky block briefly appearing.

    Any thoughts?

What browser are you using? Distro? What is your graphics card? Are you using a compositing window manager (ie, compiz or kwin with effects turned on)?

You can find numerous pages regarding smooth scrolling issues with Firefox and a variety of possible fixes.

EDIT: Just saw you have Ubuntu 9.10 listed as your distro.

Yes I'm sure I can resolve it..if I actually have a problem. Right now I'm just trying to establish whats "normal" what I should expect and can strive for.

Well I dont know whats normal ?? However, putting "Firefox 3.5" and "scrolling problems" into google comes back with so many hits it difficult to conclude anything. However, it does seem there is a major scrolling issue in FF3.5. That said I don't seem to have it very bad as things go and for now have turned smooth scrolling off which helps a bit. Also seems theres no "fix" as such for FF3.5 and upgrading to 3.6 may be the way to go?
