New to this strange world...
Hey everyone... i recently installed ubuntu on my toshiba satellite u500 laptop. i have always hated windows, so i switched to a mac in search of something new...well the macbook pro i bought died after 4 years...so im back with windows now because macs cost too much! Well out of pure boredom i installed ubuntu on it (duel boot with unbuntu and win vista) and i love the way it looks and feels...it seems so simple and clean...
BUT! my internet will not connect and im starting to wonder, what else wont work? i consider myself a quick learner, but dont know tons about computers at the core level...can anyone point me in the right direction to learn more about this OS? or how to get the wireless to work? i have looked over and over and i find stuff, but it makes no sense to me...might as well be written in greek. it almost seems i have to be a computer programmer to make a printer or my wireless work.
anyways thanks to anyone that can help, and have a good one!Last edited by ov3rlord; 03-01-2010 at 08:25 PM. Reason: more info

Hello and Welcome!

For other minor issues along the road (Flash, media playback) you might have to enable some software repositories.
Check out this page for some help on that.Jay

The information that you provide for the wireless will also help to get the wired connection to work. You will most likely have to transfer the info to the windows partition to post it here. Using the script provided in the second section of the wireless sticky is the easiest way to get the info in a text file.
