Unable To Set Up HP PSC 1315 Printer Scanner Copier

    Hi everyone,

    I'm brand new here.

I'm posting here because I'm having trouble setting up by HP PSC 1315 printer scanner copier machine. I believe I have the proper drivers already installed. However, nothing happens when I try printing a test page. Also when I try printing a web page, it goes through the motions. Then I get an error message saying the computer can't recognize the printer.

Any assistance or suggestions would be great appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

    Welcome to the forums!

Not sure, but I think your printer will use the HP PSC 1310 drivers. It is shown as working "mostly" under Linux over at the OpenPrinting.org database:

Printer: HP PSC 1310 | OpenPrinting - The Linux Foundation

One easy way to setup a printer under CUPS is to open your web browser, then enter the following into the location bar:

    Code:
    localhost:631
The CUPS admin interface should come up allowing you to choose and configure your printer. You'll need to choose the PSC 1310 option as your printer.

    Hope it all works.

alternatively, you could download and run the installation wizard: HP Linux Imaging and Printing

    Hi,

Thanks for the responses. But I already have HPLIP installed.

In terms of typing in localhost 631 into my browser, I use Firefox. I did it, and gave the name of my printer. I was then prompted for a user name and password, which I gave. But then it brought me to a blank page.

did you try the wizard i linked to?
this is from the wizard's page:
First, we will determine if the version of HPLIP included with your operating system will work with your printer and if your printer is supported by HPLIP.
