[SOLVED] it's so slow to download in ubuntu
i'm using ubuntu 9.10 and i'm freshman to linux.
i found out it was so slow to download anything from any site. not update system from server. i solved that slowness by selecting the best source. it could go up to 100k/s. but my bandwidth is 12 Mbs.
when i download anything from any site, it is just like 10k/s. it's ridiculous.
i've searched the whole weekend and tried almost everything i could find about this prob online. still doesn't get any better.
thanks, if you know howto, for your kindly sharing.

are you connecting via wireless? you could have a really bad signal which is slowing you down
also if someone else on the network is hogging bandwidth it would be slow too

There could also be an issue with your network driver. I haven't seen this and my Ubuntu systems typically get most of the available network bandwidth, whether using wired or wireless networking.
Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.

Welcome to the forums!it's so slow to download in ubuntu
You might also try disabling IPV6 if you haven't done so already:

Some users including myself often find that it makes a big difference in their internet speeds.oz
