    Installing Ubuntu 9.10

    I am a newbee. Install Ubuntu 9.10 on window 7. Will 9.10 copy all the files or do I have to transfer. After all files are on 9.10 can I delete windows?

    You'll have to do any transferring or backups of files that you want to keep.

    Yes, you can remove Windows when you are ready, but I wouldn't advise doing it until you are totally sure that's what you want to do. In fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a backup of your current Windows system just in case you should decide that you want it back.



    Edit: Keep in mind that if you remove the Windows partition(s), you'll need to edit your grub configuration file and your fstab file according to the layout of the new partition table.
