    install 9.10

The laptop is a 64 platform. I want to install 9.10. The CD would have to be the 64 also. I have a 32 CD but the windows says it cannot read.

You can install 32-bit or 64-bit on a 64-bit laptop.

If you have 4GB of RAM or more, I'd definitely go with the 64-bit ISO download.

    Ah... gotcha.
On a 64-bit machine, you can chose whether you want to install 32- or 64-bit OS.
Only on a 32-bit machine do you have to match up for 32.

Are you sure you are burning the ISO file to disk as an image?

You can take a look at this HowTo for all the proper steps to be followed:

How did you burn .iso image?
Make sure to select Burn Image to Disc option. Do not create data disk. Burn it as an Image.
