(SOLVED) Problem with files on home Windows network
So I am a relative noob, but have sucessfully intalled Ubuntu 9.10 on my computer, connected to the wireless internet, after the updates as my wireless security is WPA. I even have connected to my network printer and printed the test page. My problem is that when I try to access the shared folders on the other network computers I get the big error message stating "The Folder Contents Could Not Be Displayed You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of 'shareddocs on *" (* being the name of the computer) I am the root user. My password is used when I install new programs. Why would I not have the permissions to view those contents? Any ideas?

I'm not sure if I understand what you are trying to do? It seems you are trying to access windows computers on your network from your Linux (Ubuntu) machine? Do you have sharing enabled in windows. Have you set up Samba on Ubuntu and configured it?

Thanks Yancek. I do have Samba configured, that is how I accessed the network printer. I should have mentioned that I am the only Linux machine on the network. It turned out that the problem was the setup of the computer I was trying to access. I went into their file sharing properties and reset them, despite the fact that it looked like file sharing was on, and now I can access them. I guess that I just needed to recheck the machines. I assumed that the problem was on my end, and we all know what assuming does.
