Issue with setting partitions on Ubuntu
Recently my brother somehow deleted some pretty important files on my Windows XP partition (no way he can do it on Ubuntu. I hope
) So I want to try and install Ubuntu after trying out the LiveCD and liking it. I have a 40GB hard drive (old system) and I was wondering how I can take off 10GB from the Windows partition to use for Ubuntu.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums!
That's an easy task using the Parted Magic LiveCD. Just use it to shrink the Windows partition and then add the new space to your Ubuntu partition.oz

GParted is available as Disk Utility package in Ubuntu LiveCD only and I would suggest you to use that for Partitioning.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
