Extremely slow terminals in virtualbox
I'm running windows 7 on my laptop at work (I know, I know, but I have good reasons). In order to at least some of the benefit of Linux, I run Ubuntu in virtualbox. Things pretty much work great, except more often than not, gnome terminal is really sluggish. It seems like a simple program - I can get videos to play fine, why can't I type text. I installed xterm, and it has the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I assume you have installed the Guest Additions? If not, try that.

Yep
Yes, i have the guest editions installed. Everything works well (except sometimes I have to reset the virtual network connection). But for some reason, the terminal, which seems like such a simple app to run, is painfully slow.

Well, since Windows is managing the I/O for the virtual machine, it may be that something is going on with Windows which is causing the slow input response. Perhaps you are running out of physical RAM and Windows is hitting the swap file heavily. That can cause such problems as you are observing.
