    Exclamation Problem in USB Drives after Upgrading Karmic -> Lucid Lynx

    Hi
    I have just upgraded my OS from ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04.
    Now I'm facing problem of not having write permissions to USB drives (Pen drives).
    I have to use terminal with sudo to copy , move files and unmount media.
    Earlier it use to work fine.
    Help

    I'd highly recommend you never upgrade your main system until the OS is out of beta. Lucid isn't gold until the end of the month. No matter how far along they are, if it's designated beta there's always going to be bugs. You might very well have run into one here.

    Are you able to read/write to the USB drive on another OS or computer?

    At this point I'd hold out and wait for the final release at the end of the month and see if it gets fixed. If it's a problem specific to 10.04, you might not have many other options, other than downgrading temporarily (which might not be the easiest thing to do).

    Perhaps someone else can give you more constructive advice. Best of luck.

    my constructive advice is don't use beta product unless you know what you're getting into

    that being said, I would check the bug trackers for lucid and see if it is in fact a bug
