    Can I use nautilus to view the contents of the bootloader file?

    Is there somewhere that I can view the contents of the bootloader using nautilus?

    Yes, if you mean the contents of the bootloader menu. Depending on whether it's GRUB Legacy or GRUB2 that you run, it will be at /boot/grub/menu.lst (or grub.conf), or at /boot/grub/grub.cfg

    If you wish to edit your menu options, you'll need root permissions to do so, and you'll need to edit the menu.lst file for GRUB Legacy, or the /etc/default/grub file for GRUB2.

    The next time that i update Ubuntu I want to have a record of the updated bootloader file so I can determine what will later be downloaded into it.
